Dead Mother; Etching by turn of the century symbolist artist, Max Klinger. Macabre as the title may sound, the artwork is in fact a brilliant expression on the theme of "death and rebirth" (transformation). Klinger was a close friend and collaborator with the -- more famous -- Viennese artist, Gustav Klimt.

Marxism -- I found this little gem while strolling around Beijing a couple of years go. It was in an area being demolished to make way for the new Olympic facade that the Chinese Communist party will present to the world. I have no idea what this building was used for but I think it conveys the general aesthetic scheme of Mao Zedong's "worker's" society.
